Recommended Reading for Marketers – Part 4

Welcome to the latest edition of our new weekly blog series, Recommended Reading. Each week, I’ll highlight something – either a book, or a blog, or a publication – marketers should read. I’ll give a brief summary and tell you why it’s important.

Last Week’s Recommendation was Confessions of an Advertising Man, by David Ogilvy.

Today’s Recommendation = Seth’s Blog

Returning visitors will have noticed that the first three parts of this weekly series were all books. But there are other things worth reading.

Hence today’s recommendation, the blog written by author and business guru Seth Godin. Mr. Godin has made a name for himself through his writing. He is the author of 18 books, many of which have been bestsellers. His ideas are fresh, often feeling contradictory to “best practices” promoted by other self-proclaimed experts in the field.

For example, one of his most popular books, “Purple Cow”, is all about creating a business that stands out from the crowd. The prevailing advice is, instead of doing the same things other companies are doing, do something completely new and unique. This gets people talking. It gets you noticed. And it will lead to success.

On his blog, simply titled Seth’s Blog, you can get a daily dose of Mr. Godin’s wisdom, and read through years of archived content. It’s perfect for marketers and business folks looking for new ways of reaching consumers.
