Simple Website Fixes – Part 4

Welcome to the latest edition of our newest weekly blog series, Simple Website Fixes. Each week we will identify and explain one easy change that you can make to your company’s website in order to improve performance. Last week’s fix was - Add An Offer.

This week’s fix = Site Search

Nobody will take the time to use a website that they don’t know how to navigate. As soon as they land on any page of your site, they should know how to find what they are looking for. But that’s not always the case.

One simple trick to get around a bad navigation experience is the addition of site search. With a clear search box that anyone can find right away, you make your website instantly more user-friendly.

As a visitor to the site who does not know where to go, I know that I can type my query into the search tool and if you have what I’m looking for, it is likely to show up.

Site search is free and simple to add. Google provides a tool you can simply copy into any website. That’s all there is to it.

By adding site search, and making it easy to find, you get around having to create a better navigation. I wouldn’t recommend that, but it’s a nice shortcut.
