This week’s fix = Add An Offer
Special offers work. If your goal is to convert more website visitors into paying customers, your best bet is to add a promotional offer.
The reason that offers work is simple. You are taking advantage of psychological aspects of consumer decision making. A special offer with a time limit adds a sense of urgency and makes the customer feel like they are getting something unique or exclusive. It can turn the casual browser, the person doing research or gathering information, into a buyer.
Special offers work when they are displayed prominently on the site, and have a specified deadline. Whether they are product-specific, category-specific, or across the board offers, the details should be easy to find and should give visitors a reason to shop.
There are many different types of special offers you can choose from. Here are just a few of the most popular:
- Straight discounts. 25% off or $20 off your order.
- Buy one, get one offers intended to increase the average order value.
- Free shipping. Either on all orders or only orders over a certain limit.
- Free trials aimed at getting people to sign up and then pay later.
- Membership or loyalty programs which reward people for repeat purchases.
When you add an offer to your website, you are giving your visitors more incentive to take action right then and there.
