This post from Seth Godin seems rather apropos right now. In it he talks about the three main marketing levers – fear, hope, and love. If you’re someone who has paid even a small bit of attention to the US Presidential nominating conventions this month, you know that FEAR is a big part of both sides’ messages this year. For Republicans, its fear of crime and terrorism. For Democrats, its fear of what will happen if Trump wins. Fear is a powerful motivator, perhaps one of the most powerful there is. We’ll see which side it works for come November.
