CNN ratings are soaring over the past two weeks related directly to their coverage of the missing Malaysian Airlines plane. When I think about that, it doesn’t quite sit right. CNN is benefiting from a tragedy. To the people behind CNN, this is a good thing for business. Sounds like an issue of incentives and motivation, much like I discussed when gun sales soared after every major shooting. I understand that this is news, and CNN’s job is to report the news. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. It just doesn’t sit right.
