Marketing is about connecting with consumers in a way that is unique and lasting. What better way to do that than “owning” a word or phrase in those consumers’ minds. Look at the recent movements spurred on by two controversial police killings in our country. “Hands up, don’t shoot” and “I can’t breathe” have become the rallying cries of those movements and extend far beyond individual protests or protesters.
