Social media is a major lever for marketers to pull, and a big opportunity for business moving forward. But as we’ve all seen, social media also opens up new pitfalls for companies to avoid. The message, tread lightly.
Based on my own experience, and by recent headlines, here are my Seven Deadly Social Media Sins for business:
- Use a tragedy to sell. See epicurious.
- Tell off a customer.
- Ignore service questions.
- Post irrelevant content.
- Post inappropriate content.
- Sell without engagement.
- Don’t use social media at all. All of the others are bad, but this one is just plain crazy.
