This past week here in New York we elected the first Democratic mayor in 20 years. The election was billed as a chance for the people to have their say on three consecutive Bloomberg terms. I can’t help but feel like that is not what happened at all. I think most people in New York would agree that the city improved over the last twelve years in many more ways than it got worse. And Bloomberg’s policies were so centrist that it would have been a harder turn right than it was a shift left. Either way, I hope that many of the projects left over from the previous administration stay in place.
